Please try again later. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Most of the info in this book chafffey years out of date. I can’t believe people use this as a textbook. One person found this helpful. I am from the Caribbean. Why was this the case and what is the difference from one that is bought for say an American or European audience? Poorly written, self-promotional, verbose white paper with the explicit aim emaeketing generating business for the authors. It is also apparent that the authors of this book believe digital marketing to be the evolution of brand management.
While there are components of brand and brand management in digital marketing it is only one component. If you’re interested in branding, money and time is better spent reading Strategic Brand Management by Keller. Publication of this book has severely discredited Routledge in my mind and I will look to books published by other companies in the future. How anything can go to market riddled with typos, grammatical errors, and formatting errors, is beyond incompetent.
Oh, did I mention the book, which is marketed to American graduate schools, is written in the Queen’s English? This book is written for people who are involved in marketing, information management, web master and MBA students specializing in marketing and business.
This book is written in textbook form where each chapter has an overview, details, summary, further reading and self test questions. Emarkeing chapter in the excellnce, whether it is covering the 7Ps of marketing, and the new 8th P, social media optimization, site design or any of the other major topics in the book, contain an abundance of examples solutions others developed, tips, insights and other useful marketing advice.
Reading this as someone who has a small business, I found every page to contain useful information that I could use. I am confident that people reading this book and working at larger businesses than mine would also greatly benefit from the expert knowledge provided by the authors. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a business and a web presence. This is a hard book to review, and truthfully if I wasn’t forced to review it for Vine I probably wouldn’t: The book is a textbook, a college textbook and assumes things about the reader that one, is use to reading college textbooks, and two and more importantly has terms in there that made me read this with google near me for example i had no idea what a RSS feed is.
This isn’t a book you sit down and read as I felt as I read it a professor should have been included with it. How much practical use can a reader get out of it.
I would say as a layman who has some interest in learning about it this book is not going to do it for you, but if you are familiar with the subject perhaps this can get you over you hump. Hard read for someone 30 years removed from college. It’s eemarketing excellent and comprehensive student emarketng and is very readable. The chapters are well paces with plenty of examples, checklists, summaries, case studies, practical tips and insights.
I particularly like the focus on Online Value Proposition. Plenty of new e-models explored and also the impact of changes to more traditional offline models. Chaffey and Smith were writing in this area long before every other marketer and commercial agency decided to jump on the bandwagon and write a digital marketing book. The content is academically robust and references plenty of peer reviewed literature as well as classic textbooks and links to helpful tools and websites.
